When I started campaigning for Osseo School Board, writing a book wasn’t even on my radar. My focus was on engaging with families, addressing community concerns, and working toward a vision for educational excellence and equity. But as I listened to stories, answered questions, and shared my own perspective, a deeper realization emerged: the conversations we’re having about diversity, identity, and unity need more than soundbites they need depth, truth, and hope.
And that’s where this book was born.
What Inspired the Book
On the campaign trail, I heard countless questions about what diversity really means and how it impacts our schools, families, and communities. These weren’t easy conversations often, they were polarizing. The more I listened, the more I saw the need for a firm foundation to approach these topics in a way that unites rather than divides.
It became clear to me that there’s a better way-a way rooted in God’s design for humanity. Writing this book became my way of expanding on those conversations, offering a perspective that’s both hopeful and grounded in truth.
How the Process Began
It started simply: notes jotted down after meetings or conversations with parents, students, and community leaders. At first, they were just thoughts I didn’t want to forget. But over time, those notes began to form themes-patterns in the stories I heard and the questions people asked. Eventually, I realized I had more to say than could fit into a campaign speech or a social media post. Writing this book felt like the next step in serving my community-not just as a candidate, but as someone passionate about unity, education, and creating a brighter future for the next generation.
What the Book is About
This book explores what diversity looks like through God’s eyes. It’s about reclaiming a vision for identity and unity that celebrates differences while holding fast to truth. It challenges today’s cultural narratives and offers a roadmap for living out true diversity in a way that heals and unites, rather than divides. The heart of this book is to provide clarity and encouragement for those navigating these complex issues, whether in schools, churches, or everyday life.
Why I’m Sharing This Now
As I continue my campaign, I wanted to invite you into this journey with me. Writing this book has been a deeply personal process, but it’s also one I hope will resonate with many of you who are asking the same questions I’ve been hearing.
Over the coming months, I’ll share sneak peeks, behind-the-scenes reflections, and updates as we approach its release. I’m excited to take this journey with you to reflect, grow, and envision a better way forward together.
